Air Conditioner

The Air Conditioner isn't necessary, but it makes you feel comfortable. When people appreciate you, it's not necessary, but it makes you feel good. When your air conditioner isn't working, ask yourself if you feel that you're being treated well by others. You may feel that there's people in your life who aren't seeing you for you or aren't giving you that sincere acknowledgement you need to feel truly seen, understood, and appreciated. It may be time to find new people to interact with who you feel are more thoughtful and considerate and make you comforabtle with being yourself.

Alignment

When your tires go out of alignment, your car will pull toward one side while driving down the road. This could mean that you're caving to outisde influence, letting some situation or other people's opinions steer you off your personal goals. Take a moment to get back in touch with your higher ideals, form a new daily plan, and don't let the stress of mundane responsibilities overwhelm you.

Alternator

Since the alternator transforms mechanical efforts into electrical charge it would signify that you're putting in a lot of effort into your life in some area, your job or your relationships for example, and feeling little personal reward from your efforts. So much sacrficie and nothing left to get excited about! You should try to focus your efforts more efficiently, learn to delegate, learn to set boundaries, and manage your time better. By permitting yourself to focus on achieving the things that bring more gratifying results, you'll start to feel the return of that electiricy and enthusiasm.

Battery

If your battery died or won't hold a charge, you need some down time in your life. No one should be on-the-go constantly every day of every week of every month. Staying busy can become the new normal and then you'll need to really take a moment to reflect, allow yourself a few days to reset by striving toward nothing. Recharge and regroup. No excuses, this is your wellness we're talking about! Take out your calendar right now, find a day this week or next, and write in "Me Time" and plan on that time to do literally nothing. Your body and your mind needs the rest.

Belts

Belts drive lots of little motors under your hood, running everything from the water pump to the air conditioner. When they get worn out they slip and start making that characteristic screeching noise. Annoying noises in your vehicle usually highlight annoying voices in your life, either an internal dialogue of complaining too much or amplifying other people's criticisms in your mind. At any rate, you're focusing in a negative way, perhaps you feel that things really aren't fair! You may feel that you're not meeting standards and feeling insecure about your performances at work or in your relationships. Try to simplify. Streamline your chores, minimalize those feelings of the daily grind and find ways to show your talents to the world. Approach each day's tasks with a more optimisitc attitiude and others will magically start to show you more respect and value you more.

Blinker Lights

Do your blinker lights keep malfunctioning? Blown bulbs, blown fuses, bad connections? This could happen when your present feelings aren't getting through to others. You may have evolved to a new turning point where you're no longer interested in being the same person, maybe you're thinking of leaving your job, or your partner, maybe you've reinvented your notion of Self or of personal success, and the people around you aren't hip to it yet because you haven't really been good at effectively communicating it. You might feel like people would rather you just stay in your lane. This isn't so much about taking a stand or breaking away so much as it's about being secure and honest with others about who you are and where you see yourself going. If face-to-face conversations won't go over well, try explaining yourslef in a practice email. Express what's important to you and what's going on inside of you. Try to find a tone where you can see positive outcomes to reaching a mutual understanding and start creating the building blocks for that new life for yourself.

Brakes

Brakes wearing out is a sign that you're taking on too much, making too many promises, trying to please too many people and spreading your resources thin. It may feel like Life is too demanding right now. Brakes wear out faster when you're afraid that you can't accomplish everything, or you can't meet someone's perceived expectations. You may even be worried that if you don't it could lead to danger - like a car with no brakes, a situation could slip away out of your control and veer into getting fired from your job, your partner leaving, disaster! Try to acknowledge your time and resources in a realistic way. Think about what positive outcomes are actually achievable. Time to be more practical and be comfortable with your own limitations.

If your brakes are making loud noises, this is similar to the above explanation, but with an extra element: namely, those annoying voices in your head! Either you're overly sensitive to other people complaning about your inabilities, or you're ephasizing their opinions in your mind. Are you growing suspicious that people may be critical of your personal deficiencies? When you catch up on a phone call with a friend, do you find yourself blurting out how terrible and stressful things have been lately? Do the best you can to work on what you need to do, but truly, be more aware of your internal attitudes and try to focus more on positive thinking!

If you have to push down hard on the brake pedal, that's a sign of a mechanical failure with the hydraulic cylinder under the pedal. This highlights the same issues as above, but with the added component of run-away anxiety! Pressure. Self-awareness, self-referential thinking, you're eating yourself alive! Instead of focusing on your shortcomings, insecurities, or feelings of isolation, try to pick one task that you think you can actually manage, focus most of your available time on that one thing, and if you miss some other deadline or break a promise as a result, then really your true friends should understand and be forgiving. And if they instead keep applying more pressure to you, maybe it's time to find more understanding friends!

Doors

A door not opening or shutting properly highlights the area of your own personal boundaries. Getting in and out of your car is like people getting in and out of your heart and soul. A door that won't close or lock means that you may be feeling that your privacy is being intruded upon. Someone's not giving you any space! Maybe trying to judge you or offer their opinions when you never asked for it. You need to set your boundaries, and prioritize your own healing private time. A door that won't open or stays locked means that you're being way too guarded. Maybe you've been through so much in your life that you don't easily let people in or maybe you have trust issues. While keeping those walls up might feel safer, it also creates a feeling of isolation and even loneliness. Try to let your guards drop with a handful of people. Share your vulnerabilities more honestly and you may start to feel more emotionally involved in the world around you.

Drivers side door means that this issue is causing major disruptions that it's time to address.

Passenger side door means that this issue is causing minor delays and frustrations, but you think you could still manage well enough.

Electrical Problems

Your vehicle's electrical system is like the wiring in your brain. All those neural impulses and chatter in your mind are branching out through your entire nervous system. Your thoughts are now affecting your whole body, your life, and your reality. Electrical problems in your vehicle mirror problems with how your own thoughts are shaping your life in a negative way, or in a broad sense, you're feeling stuck in a chronic habit of stinkin' thinkin'! Let's be honest...are you one of those people who carry on imaginary conversations in your head? And if so, are those conversations loving and nurturing or are you silently slaying yourself and stirring up anger out of unconscious habit? Try taking a daily walk. Yoga. Meditation. Anything to help you get a handle on your emtional wellness and all that mental chatter. There's free meditaitons for you to try on this very website: right here.

Engine

The engine is the heart of your vehicle. An Overheating Engine means that you're holding in too much repressed emotions/anger/guilt. You're putting too much internal pressure on yourself without sharing with anyone and it's starting to affect your physical health and overall wellness. When intense feelings get held in, you could be pushing yourself to fix the problems yourself, feeling alone with monumental struggles, and these feelings add to the thes stress by creating additional anger and loneliness. Relax. Breathe. You are a spiritual being having a human experience. All life is internconnected and flows in natural cycles. This too shall pass. See also: radiator and thermostat

Warped or Cracked Heads means you're feeling like you're in the totally wrong place in your life. You should be somewhere else by now, as if your life has taken you into a situation that your soul is just not in harmony with. It's as if your heart is not in it anymore. Your physical reality is out of balance with your spirit's intentions for life. You need a profound spiritual reset to restore you to inner peace. Job changes, divorces, breaking with family, starting over, moving away, these are all examples of the sort of Big Changes that you may need to leap into. But be careful not to do anything too rash for the wrong reasons. You want this new you to take firm root and to last. Unless you find yourself in a harmful or abusive situation, make a gradual plan to change in the right timeline for maximum health and wellness. Or if it better suits your current condition, rip off the bandaid and take the leap of faith!

Fender Bender

When it doesn't affect the function of the vehicle but is merely cosmetic, it represents your self-image. The front bumper, grill or hood is the face that you put on to the world or even what's coming to you today, this week, soon. Something's got you feeling self-aware. You may even be self-conscious about something literally on your face or the front side of your body! Back bumper, trunk, it's your own back side that's got you feeling self-aware. But could also be a metaphor for what you're not looking at or putting behind you that you're afraid is going to damage your self-image. Side panels of the vehicle should draw your attneiton to your arms and legs, your stomach and your thighs. But also as a metaphor could be highlighting your own self-consciousness when it comes to how you're dealing with people in your life who are "off to the side".

Flat Tires

Think about tires being the part of your car that touches the road, they give you traction and momentum. Without tires, you're not really going anywhere even if everything else is in tip-top shape. The equivalent in life is money. Money is the tire that grips the road of your life to get you through everything from the phone to groceries and a roof over your head. Chronic flat tires indicates that you're feeling anxiety about having enough money. Fearing out of control expenses, unplanned growing debt, money going out like the air in your tires. Try to practice the Law of Attraction, feeling in gratitude for what you have. Practice reprogramming your mind and your feelings to know that you're taken care of, that the world you live in is full of abundance and money is coming in! Flip those negative thoughts and anxieties and feed your relationship with money positive affirmations.

Fluid Leaking

Any fluid leak represents a possible future failure of that component. It isn't failing now, but if you don't take care, it will. Maybe you're running out of steam, afraid that you won't be able to make it much longer. A few examples: Transmission fluid leaking is less about you failing to navigate your roles in life, but the fear that if things don't change, you won't be able to, a fear that you aren't talented enough, smart enough, or equipped to maintain being effective. Radiator coolant leaking is less about you caving under the stress and pressure of your life and more about the fear that if things persist, your stamina might give out. But in the meantime, for right now, your car is running as long as oyu top off that fluid. Whatever it is, you're doing it! And no one else can tell this about you because you're actually still maintaining in their eyes!

Fuel Filter/Fuel Injectors

You need to focus on better nutrition. Pure and simple, clogged fuel injectors and/or a bad fuel filter are signs of your physical health being off. Not enough oxygen in the blood, high cholesterol, too much saturated fats, sugar or sodium. Something's off! Time to cut back on junk foods and start including more raw fresh foods in your diet.

Headlights

Headlight out means that you're not seeing the whole picture. You've become one-sided and too opinionated. Open up to an alternate viewpoint and you'll see that life isn't so narrow. Headlights aiming too far down means that you're not thinking of the consequences or what might happen in the long run. Headlights aiming too far up means that you've been focusing too far into the future, always dreaming of tomorrow, without paying attention to what's going on right now.

Heater

Unlike the air conditioner which isn't necessary, but rather makes you comfortable, the heater in your car beaking shows that you're not getting the one thing that every human needs: Love. For whatever reason, you're not feeling the love in your life. While it's true that the people in your life may actually not be the right people for you, there are certain things that are within your control right now. Instead of fixating on the lack of love, try instead to open yourself up to feeling loved from wherever it's coming. Take it from where you can. Let it in. Maybe there's a handful of people in your life who really do love you and you're just being too private and guarded to see it for what it's worth. Open your heart the best that you can to those around you and unclog that feeling of love flowing within you.

Indicator Lights

All those little indicator lights on your dashboard are telling you about some issue or impending problem with your vehicle. When it's merely a problem with the actual indicator light going haywire, coming on and staying on when it should be off, that means you're worried about the future of something. For example, the Anti-Theft light screwing up shows that you're afraid someone could use their position to belittle you, or do harm to you in some way. But it's not actually happening in reality, it's just your fear that it might soon occur. Or the tire pressure sensor, that means that you're worried about the future cost of some impending thing, fearing that you won't have enough money to make it; but in the meantime, right now, you actually are making it. Your tire isn't flat. It's just the dash light. Or how about the Check Engine light? The engine is your heart. So are you afraid you're going to a plce that your heart doesn't want to? Maybe you've been offered a job but don't really want to take it. Stop worrying about the future, and know that you're in the right place right now. Read up on what it means when the actual component fails elsewhere in this list and then say "I must be worried about x happening" and then change your attitude about it to have faith that it's all going to be OK!

Radiator

You're not finding the right balance in your life. All the pressure your putting on something is making it hard to cope. Feeling like you're falling apart at the seems! When that gasket blows, it's like you've been so stressed for so long that you can't even see how things could get better and you're just feeling numb. You need a cool down of more than just a few hours to recharge. You need serious time off. You need a vacation to help restore your inner balance!

Remote/Keyless Entry

The remote to unlock your car is the same spiritually as the remote to start your car. Problems with the keyless entry/starting system represent how your approaching your day, in other words, your morning routine. How you wake up, what you eat for breakfast, and especially how you take time in the morning to think about and plan your day. So problems with the remote signify a need to stay on track with your morning routine and stepping into the day in the right positive mindset.

The remote lock or alarm when stepping away from your vehicle to secure it, represents your worries about someone else in your life, a family member or friend, someone who you are concerned for their happiness or wellbeing.

Radio/Speakers

You use the radio most when you're alone in your car. It's what keeps you company. Just like your mind keeps you company when you're alone. If yor radio is on the fritz, or you've blown out the speakers in your car, it could mean that you're spedning too much time in your own head. Your thoughts may have swirled to a pattern of self-referential and never ending thinking. Time to exit the stage of this one-man play and time to engage the audience, the world around you, talk to other people, get out of your head and get involved in the world to the point where it begins to change the landscape of your mind.

Rear View Mirror/Window

You have a distorted view of your past and need to start seeing things as they are and let it go. Stop focusing on what's happened to you. Your childhood, past relationships, old experiences you feel have shaped you and held you back. Focus instead on today. This moment right here and now, and you'll start to see real opportunities developing where there used to be none.

Shocks

You are overly sensitive to the little bumps in your life. This can happen when you get into a situation where you feel if you only had the resources, the right amount of time, money, control, etc, you would be able to rock it! But there keeps being minor glitches, setbacks, and just...life getting in the way! Instead of focusing on how these glitches are preventing you from a goal, wether it be success or just happiness, try to take a moment to see how these bumps in the road are trying to steer you into adjusting your perception of what success/happiness really means. Let the setbacks teach you to let go and learn how to live a smoother more relaxed life. You'll get there when you get there.

Spark Plugs

The electrical impulses in your heart, both phsycially and metaphorically. Your own heart beat or rhythm may be off as a result of your personal stress. Check your blood pressure, your pulse, and maybe even schedule a doctor's visit for a routine check up. But more impiortantly, the underlying issue is that your "heart" isn't into where you are in your life. You may find solace in learning to calm your thoughts or practicing meditation. But there may be an issue with feeling as though too much time has gone by without engaging in what's important to you, as if you're skewing these months towards living in a way that's not in harmony with your spiritual truth. Certainly, there's a physical component to this stress. If you're a smoker, time to quit! If you don't exercise, time to join a gym! Spark plugs highlight more than just your mind and emotions, so take control of your physical health and you'll find that a light might switch on in your spiritual self!

Starter

Think of a starter like "making a new start" which could be a new job, relationship, or any project you need to undertake; however, its often more accurate to talk about it in more open-ended definitions such as a "new you" as if you're having trouble giving birth to a new version of yourself, perhaps tuck in outdated habits and patterns. A little confidence and faith is needed to turn the page to the next chapter of your life. Find the motivation and passion to trust that the unknown is going to be exciting and refreshing!

Steering Wheel/Power Steering

Where is you life taking you? Do you have control over what your life is about? Your dreams and goals? Your career? Your family? Whether rack and pinion, the steering column, or the steering wheel itself, when your car is having a problem with steering, it is drawing your attention to how you navigate life's twists and turns. When unexpected curves pop up in your life, do you navigate them and adjust with ease? Or do you get ovewhelmed becasue it's forcing you temporarily off track, causingu delays and frustrations? Learn to balance what life throws at you with spending time to working to stay on track with long-term goals.

If your wheel gets locked and won't turn, it may mean that you're having trouble implementing a new direction in your life. Maybe you've got everything lined up in your head, ready and waiting at the starting line, but you're aware on some level that the world is telling you not yet. Hunker down, face your existing responsibilities, and just keep doing what you're doing...for right now.

Power Steering Pump going bad means you're not getting any help when it comes to what's uniquely important to you. The college isn't approving your financial aid. Your job needs you to stay late. The money you saved up for that prize is now needed for home repairs. The universe might be trying to whisper to you that everything will fall into place in its right time.

Sunroof

I love this one! A broken or leaking sunroof means that you need to be more in touch with your higher self, your dreams and your ideals. Start keeping a dream journal. Learn how to interpret your dreams to get more in touch with your inner feelings and desires. Set lofty goals for yourself. Thnk Big. Make a Five-Year Plan. Reach for the stars!

Tail Lights

Tail lights don't do much for you when driving, but they are there simply to warn other drivers of your presence. When they go out or malfunction, it shows that you're not effectively communicating to the people in your life what's going on with you. When the taillights that remain on go bad it shows that you need to express to other people what your plans are each day and each week. Let people at work know, let your family know, "I am doing this!"

And when it's the brake light that's not working, that shows that you need to tell people about setbacks, "I can't keep that promise right now, make that deadline, or meet those expectations, becasue this unexpected thing has come up that I have to deal with." Don't be afraid of people judging you as a failure. It's perfectly normal that once in awhile you have to hit the brakes, and when you do you need to trust that other people will respond with understanding and acceptance.

Thermostat

You're having problems guaging what's important, letting little things get blown out of proportion. It may feel like everything is happening at once, when really whatever is going on in this minute isn't really that urgent. Learn to "take the temperature" of a situation. Learn to cool down, find balance, and be more level-headed.

Transmission

Transmission handles changing gears which reflects changing the roles you play in your daily life. Problems with the transmission represents the challenges you face meeting these "roles" or responsibilities. Think about who you are at your job versus who you are in your family. You engage different facets of your character and emphasize different traits as you approach the different people and situaitons in your life. Perhaps you feel uncomfortable playing a certain role, that you're out of your element or even thrust opon to be someone you feel you're not? Maybe you're focusing too much on your shortcomings living up to the role you're supposed to play? Relax. Life has a way of throwing you into situations that can help you grow as a person. You have it within you to be whatever this situation calls for. You got this!

Trunk

The trunk, being a place you "put stuff behind you" or "carry around in the back" would signify things that you're not dealing with in life, emotional or situational issues that you don't want to look at so you keep them separate "in the back of your mind". But repressing your emotions can make them worse. Problems with the trunk represents a need to address any emotional hang-ups you're carrying around with you caused by difficult past experiences. If seeing a therapist isn't your thing, perhaps try to work on seeing yourself differently: reinvent and rediscover your true self and all of your potnetial right now with positive affirmations to improve how you feel about yourself.

Wheel Bearings/CV Joints

Finances should be addressed. Old sources of expenses are outdated. Why eat out every night when it's cheaper to cook at home? Why pay top dollar for that brand name when the off-brand is just as good? Time to reasses. Time to renegotiate a mortgage, consolidate credit cards, cancel that online subscription, and come up with a new smarter budget.

Windshield

Another cracked windshield? Ain't that the worst? You're having trouble seeing your path in life. Distractions are getting in your way. Where are your days going? What's all this effort really amounting to? The windshield always fogging means you keep losing sight of the long-term goals, you're getting "foggy" in your life. Stay on track. Set daily reminders. Practice having a clearer vision of where you want to be and the steps to get there. Form a new routine to work a little bit every day towards realizing your vision.

Windows

Windows are distinct from doors. When a door has a problem, that gets into those deeper feeling connections in your life. But when it's a problem with your windows, you're still in the car, opening or not opening up to the outside world while comforatbly seated in your life which brings us into the realm of communication. Phone calls, text messages, social media. When the window won't go down, you may be feeling isolated in your wolrd, feeling disconnected from others becasue you're not finding opportunities to effectively communicate or becasue you don't want to spread your worries or stir up drama. When the window won't go up, it shows a need to try to keep things more private in your life, avoid wearing your heart on your sleeve or blabbing about all your business because people can get the wrong idea and things may end up as rumors or gossip down the line.

Wiring

This is about your mental state. You may be overthinking, or can't stop intrusive thoguhts. Or perhaps you're not thinking correctly about something. How you spend your time in your head needs to be addressed. Perhaps your opinion needs to be changed, or maybe you just need to learn to slow the pace of your thoughts down and take a breather. Analyze which wires have gone bad. What components in your vehicle are those wires feeding? That's a clue as to what you need to get your mind right about. see also: electrical problems.
