Is it a sign?

Those in spirit use any means necessary to grab our attention to let us know that they remain with us, that we're not alone, and that everything is going to be OK. Something as simple as a bird flying into a tree that catches our eye and interrupts our normal train of thought might be a sign that someone in spirit is trying to break through to say hello.

Out of all the signs from spirit I had personally witnessed and out of all the stories and experiences I've heard from others while sitting with people in their homes for private readings, or talking to people on the phone and sharing personal anecdotes, there's one sign from spirit that stands out as being particularly disorienting, and that's what I've come to call the dime phenomenon.

Maybe I wouldn't have taken such a fixated interest in hearing other people's experiences of finding dimes if it hadn't first happened to me in my own life.

When I first started noticing a single dime in unusual places, it didn't freak me out until within the space of one week it grew in frequency to the point where it was becoming a truly bewildering experience. I would find a single dime on the floor of the bathroom, in between my bed sheets, or on my car seat. Always just a single dime. Not a quarter or nickel or penny. Once I started to take notice, they began to appear in increasingly abnormal places. I'd open my car door and a single dime would drop to the ground at my feet, or fall out of a pillow case. One day, I was walking and felt something in my shoe. Thinking it was a small pebble, I took off my shoe and lo and behold there was a single dime...inside my sock! Or better yet - you really can't make this stuff up! - I once found a single dime in a coffee mug that I grabbed for my morning coffee!

It started to feel like someone was trying to tell me something or to get me to see something, almost urgently, but I just wasn't getting the message! I had been doing psychic medium readings for people here and there for years, but in 2009 when I shifted into doing readings as a full-time occupation, and when people started sharing more of their personal stories with me, I realized that finding these single dimes everywhere wasn't just something happening to me. The stories were all the same as mine: these people were finding a single dime in increasingly outlandish places, and with ridiculous frequency that defied coincidnece.

A higher vibration, a growing awareness

After much research and meditation time to go deep and uncover the meaning, I've boiled it down to this core message: someone in spirit is in that moment connecting to you in your heart and soul, your deepest spiritual essence. However, this is not just any average run-of-the-mill spirit, but something much more special. This is more than flickering lights or producing footsteps in your hallway to let you know they are with you still. Instead, present with you in that moment when you find a single dime is a much higher vibrational spirit, one could say, a truly angelic being. This may or may not be someone you've personally known in your lifetime. The more important thing here is to understand exactly where this spirit is coming to you from and what they are attempting to show you in that moment.

Think about the other side as having levels to it. Or better yet, its like one of those Russian nesting dolls that fit each consecutive smaller doll perfectly inside the next. When we die, it's a lot like this. We move to the next bigger picture of awareness and presence, which encompasses our previous smaller understanding. But there's always a greater awareness to be had, as we step into a more expansive realization that encompasses more and guides us to seeing an even larger spiritual picture. For those in the spirit world who have truly abandoned their Earthly identity and gained access to this Higher Source of Pure Being, when they connect to where you are presently in the physical world but also where you are in that moment of your life both mentally and emotionally, they carry with them this enlightened awarness, this powerful vibration of personal fulfilment, of spiritual wholeness.

The deeper meaning of ten

But why a dime? Why not something else that represnts this angelic level of being? It has everything to do with the number ten

In numerology, the number ten represents personal wholeness, a moment when there is nothing lacking from your life and everything feels complete but also a moment when it feels like there is still everything yet to be discovered. In the Tarot deck, the ten correpsonds to The Wheel of Fortune. This card highlights personal destiny and fate, but also offers an energy of divine balance and karma playing out. Therefore the appearance specifically of a single dime (correlating to this number ten) is meaningful in that it is drawing you into this same feeling, a moment for you of greater spiritual awareness, to see all the stresses and situations of your life from this broader perspective: you are exactly where you should be and all is correct. Even in the Tarot deck's "Minor Arcana" (the numbered swords, cups, wands, and coins that correlate to the suits in modern day playing cards), the ten of each suit represents the total completion of that cycle, and also the time before the next cycle takes shape. it's a moment of totality, integration and wholeness, but also there is a momentum present that has not yet coalesced into a new direction. A delicate balance in between karmic situations, where peace, personal clarity and spriritual presence are all held in balance with new growth, creativity, and movement forward.

The cyclical nature of this numeric system is inherent throughout our Western culture, since we count so many things using base ten. Think of simply counting numbers: we add a unit of one consecutively until we reach ten, and then begin adding ones again to that. Think of the Spanish words for sixteen and seventeen, dieciséis and diecisiete, literally "ten and six", and "ten and seven." This base ten model is everywhere in our culture today with only a few rare exceptions (look at the numbers on a clock face for a rare useage of the base twelve number system). Counting in this way is so engrained into our minds that the number ten is imbued with this instinctive meaning of completion and newness.

Being so proliferous in our world, the base ten concept of totality and completion illustrates the spiritual wholeness and fulfillment of the angelic realm and is mirrored perfectly in our physical world as the small circular coin that we value as "ten." Those in spirit who exist in a state of wholeness and completion, also dwell in a state of movement and creation. There is a spiritual energy around them of ultimate abundance and everything-ness, and when they tap into where we are to show us that they're with us and love and support us for who we are, the interaction of the physical world with the world they now inhabit produces the appearance in our world of a single dime.

The spirit in question is actually staying rooted in the angelic realm while they contact you. They are avoiding the temptation to lower their vibration into a smaller version of themselves where they might more closely match the frequency of entanglement that most of us exist within while being human here on Earth (whereby if they did, the spirit might be able to flicker a lightbulb or knock a picture off a table, but in doing so the spirit would also likely stir up a familiar reversal into their old Earthly personality and limitations, knocking their awareness back to the smaller shell of identitiy like that metaphor of the Russian nesting doll). In this avoidance, in remaining in this higher energetic state while they tap into your phsycial whereabouts, they are bringing you a unique opportunity to escape from your own smaller or lower astral thinking. They are offering you a glimpse outside of your personal worries in that moment. They are reflecting this energy of angelic fulfillment and abundance into your life. Finding the dime is a sign not only of their presence with you but also it is urging you to release any destructive negative thoughts that are limiting you or holding you back from realizing your larger more meaningful personal potential.

Angelic intentions

The message that seems so urgent isn't one of taking some sort of action - it is not a message from someone in spirit trying to get you to find the hidden money under the floorboards! Rather, the angel watching over you is trying to convey a deeper sensation to you outisde the realm of conscious thought, trying to slow the pace of your thoughts and offer calm. They are trying to ease you into the energy where they themselves are reaching out to you from, to give you a glimpse that everything is exactly as it should be, that there is an amazing, abundant meaning and purpose to all life, and nothing about you or your own life is currently out of place. What they are saying is that the entire universe, including the seed of life that stirs within you, is a wonderful living energy brimming with endless creative possibilities.

When you see a single dime, pause to take stock of where you are in that moment. Check in with your thoughts and feelings. And make an effort right then and there to change your vibration. Let go of any thoguhts or feelings that may have been unconsciosuly running in the background of your mind that make you feel small, or alone, or lost. When you locate the single dime, know that there is an angel harmonizing with you and by remaining on a higher vibrational level, they are lifting you into a beautiful energy of fulfilment, peace and clarity.

Next time the dime appears, take a second to breathe. Relax your shoulders. Close your eyes, and try to carry yourself into the vibration of the angel who is with you. By being present with you in that moment, they are telling you to go within and rise above. Seeing that single dime is a gentle reminder that you have the power within you to shift right then and there into a more enlightned view of your current situation and to realize that you are and continue to be deeply loved for who you are. Take this love and wisdom with you and continue your journey of spreading light into the world around you in your own vibrant way.
